NRHS leads Suffolk teams in meet

The Nansemond River High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams placed third and fifth, respectively, on Tuesday in the Southeastern District meet at Bells Mill Park.

Nick Gill of the Warriors was the fastest male Suffolk runner, placing sixth out 136 runners with a time of 17:42.01. Austin Heyman (18:48.72) and Kevin Tohak (18:53.35) placed 17th and 18th, respectively.

Christina Banks led the Lady Warriors with a time of 23:43.31, good for 21st place out of 91 runners.

Lakeland High School’s boys’ team placed sixth, while its girls’ team did not place.

The Cavaliers’ Jake Crowell was the second fastest Suffolk runner with a 17:55.12 time, earning him 10th place.

While the Lady Cavaliers were not recorded in the results as a team, Juli Durand was the fastest female Suffolk runner, placing 18th with a time of 23:14.46.

King’s Fork High School’s boys’ team placed eighth out of nine teams and was led by Peyton Chludzinski, who registered a time of 20:45.85. He was closely followed by teammate Tory Myrick, with a 20:46.67 time.

The Lady Bulldogs were not recorded in the team results, but Courtney Ricks earned 36th place with a time of 25:01.31.
