Suffolk firefighters extinguished a kitchen blaze on Saturday afternoon in the 1400 block of Sierra Drive.

The single occupant of the home was treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to a city press release.

The fire was reported at 1:54 p.m., and units arrived on scene five minutes later. It was under control by 2:10 p.m.

The occupant will be staying with family due to the extent of damage from the kitchen fire, according to the release. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
