The Riverfront neighborhood will be turned into a winter wonderland this Sunday for Team Riverfront’s first Holiday Home Tour.

The neighborhood’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life team is conducting the event and will add the proceeds from it to its already hugely successful fundraising efforts. Team Riverfront, in its fourth year doing Relay For Life, has made a habit out of being one of the top fundraisers each year.

“We’ve been pretty successful,” said Team Riverfront’s Barbara Melton.

However, this has been a hard year for the team because it lost a teammate to cancer. Adria Joseph died on Sept. 6.

“She was part of our foundation and a really good friend to all of us,” Melton said. “She’s one of the reasons we formed the team.”

Melton said her death was “a reminder we have to keep doing what we’re doing.”

The tour will feature four elaborately decorated Riverfront homes from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, a raffle for holiday decorations will take place, and winter bedding plants and greenery will be for sale.

The home of retired Brig. Gen. and Mrs. Hall, 5108 West Creek Court, was featured in the 2001 Homearama. The homeowners have decorated with a display of more than 50 Santas, a selection of porcelain dolls made by Mrs. Hall, three Christmas trees, and art from their extensive travels throughout their military careers, including Israel, Korea, Canada, Russia, Turkey, Hawaii, Tennessee and the Eastern Shore.

The Moore home will feature an array of wreaths, an old Nativity set and more.
