Chief Deputy Major E.C. Harris said the public stuffed the equivalent of eight cars outside the downtown Walmart on Saturday.

“We just want to thank the citizens and the visitors to our city for the generous donations — they are going to make a difference in many children’s lives this Christmas,” according to a statement from Suffolk Sheriff Raleigh H. Isaacs Sr. and his team.

The Sheriff’s Office is a partner in education with Elephant’s Fork.
