The only vehicle involved in the accident reportedly drove off the road and struck a tree before coming to rest on its side. The single occupant had to be extricated by firefighters, and he was then taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to the press release.

One lane was closed for about 40 minutes.

Both accidents remain under investigation.
