This year’s King’s Fork High School Christmas Tournament will feature boys’ basketball talent from Group 4A and 5A schools coming from six different districts — Bay Rivers, Beach, Dominion, Eastern, Peninsula and Southeastern.

The event will feature four games each day — Dec. 23, 26 and 27. The final day will start with a game to determine the tourney’s seventh place finisher, followed by the fifth place game, third place game and the championship game.

The eight participating teams, which will play each day of the event, include Lake Taylor High School, Manchester High School, Menchville High School, Norview High School, Princess Anne High School, Salem High School (Virginia Beach), Smithfield High School and King’s Fork.

The tournament, also known as the Bulldog Christmas Classic, looks to feature a variety of competitive matchups. Norview is one of the top teams in the region and off to a strong start. Lake Taylor, too, has begun well and is now incorporating into its roster some of the talent from its state champion football team.

Menchville, led by long time high school and college coach Ben Moore, is expected to bring a very competitive squad.

King’s Fork enters the tournament with a 5-3 overall record. It logged impressive wins this past week over city and conference rivals Lakeland High School and Nansemond River High School, making it 2-0 in the Ironclad Conference.

The Bulldogs, who face Smithfield High School on Tuesday at 8 p.m., are currently working to mesh talent already on the team with some coming from the football team that produced a school-best 10-3 record this year.

The ticket price for spectators 12 and older is $8 per day, and for those who are 11 and under it is $4 per day. These tickets grant admission to all four games on a given day of the event.
