Pedestrian struck by train

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being struck by a train Sunday morning.

It happened in the 900 block of Portsmouth Boulevard at 11:03 a.m., according to a city press release.

The 21-year-old man was walking on the tracks when he was struck, according to the release. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by ground ambulance with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Suffolk police are investigating the incident.
