Updates emerged on Thursday regarding postseason basketball scheduling that affect King’s Fork High School, Nansemond River High School and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

School has been canceled for King’s Fork on Friday, but if games can proceed on Saturday, the schedule for the King’s Fork-hosted girls’ and boy’s Ironclad Conference tournaments will be as follows:

Girls’ semifinals

  • 3 p.m. – No. 4 Heritage vs. No. 1 Phoebus
  • 4:30 p.m. – No. 3 Nansemond River vs. No. 2 King’s Fork
  • The girls’ final will be Monday at 6 p.m.

Boys’ final

  • 6 p.m. – No. 2 King’s Fork vs. No. 1 Heritage

If games cannot be played on Saturday, then the girls’ semifinals would be played on Monday, and the boys’ final would not happen, with their conference seeding simply dictating their seeding in the regional tournament. This means Heritage High School would remain No. 1 and King’s Fork would remain No. 2 at the regional level.

The boy’s and girls’ Region 4A South tournaments have the following adjusted schedule:

  • March 3 – first round
  • March 5 – second round
  • March 7 – finals

If no further games can be played in the girls’ Ironclad Conference tournament prior to March 3, conference seeding would determine who advances to regionals and what their seeding would be. It would be No. 1 Phoebus High School and No. 2 King’s Fork.

The Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state girls’ basketball quarterfinals between Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and Walsingham Academy could not be played on Thursday. Because the semifinals are set for Friday, the Lady Saints, being the higher seed, have been automatically advanced.

The semifinals are currently scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Friday in Charlottesville. NSA will face Norfolk Christian School. The final is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. in Charlottesville.
