NRHS girls rule court

The Nansemond River High School girls’ tennis team continues working through its schedule of Southeastern District opponents this week after registering victories over two other district foes last week.

The Lady Warriors defeated host Indian River High School 9-0 on March 24.

Following are the singles results:

  • Bonney (NR) def. Cannon (IR) 6-4, 6-1
  • McCoy (NR) def. Sehgal (IR) 6-0, 6-2
  • Ortiz (NR) def. Malcolm (IR) 6-1, 6-1
  • Sadler (NR) def. Marcelo (IR) 6-2, 6-2
  • Roach (NR) def. Lu (IR) 6-4, 6-1
  • Spain (NR) def. Gates (IR) 6-0, 6-0

Following are the doubles results:

  • Bonney/McCoy (NR) def. Cannon/Malcolm (IR) 8-4
  • Ortiz/Sadler (NR) def. Sehgal/Marcelo (IR) 8-2
  • Roach/Ariana (NR) def. Lu/Gates (IR) 8-3

The day prior to facing the Lady Braves, Nansemond River hosted Great Bridge High School and won 6-3.

  • Powell (GB) def. Roach (NR) 3-6, 6-2, 10-6
  • Hoyns (GB) def. Spain (NR) 6-4, 6-1

  • MacCauley/Powell (GB) def. Ortiz/Sadler (NR) 6-1, 6-3
  • Roach/Ariana (NR) def. Bonfonte/Hoyns (GB) 6-2, 6-4

The Lady Warriors visited Oscar Smith High School on Tuesday and are set to host King’s Fork High School on Thursday.
