Curtis Homer Copeland

Mr. Curtis Homer Copeland answered the Master’s call in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 2, 2015, after a long illness.

He was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1656 Copeland Road in Suffolk. He was the son of the late Home and Goldie Copeland of Suffolk.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Johnson-Copeland, and son, Aaron Copeland, of the home; two additional sons, Andree’ Holland and Derrick Copeland; three daughters, Victoria Walker, Yvette Sanders (Marty) and Keona Copeland; 13 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Willie Mae J. Fulgham; two brothers, John Brown (Rosalyn) and Vernon Copeland (Linda); seven sisters, Goldie Jordan, Catherine Robertson (James), Ernestine Beamon, Joyce Pope (Johnnie), Sandra Copeland, Vanessa Boone (Leon), and Betty Saunders; sisters-in-law, Samantha Johnson-Hollomon (Shaun), Emma J. Waters (Tony), Audrey Luckey (Andrew), Loretta Batten, Angelina Ricks (Dexter), Carol Broadnax (Trent) and Valana Gholston (Alvin); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church. The Rev. Ernest Simmons will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
