Senior midfielder Addison Peak earned his inaugural all-conference accolade for lacrosse by making the first team this season.

“He creates a lot of offense for us, not only in transition, but in 6-on-6, settled situations,” NSA coach T.W. Johnson said, noting Peak makes defenses slide to him, which creates opportunities for his teammates.

He has registered 34 goals this season and recorded 12 assists, but the coach said there are also times Peak has helped his team score even when he was not the one putting the ball in the goal or earning the assist.

He also helps clear the ball for the Saints, and he’s been on the wing in face-off situations.

“I thought he had a really good junior year, but he’s had even a better senior year,” Johnson said.

Senior defenseman David Gough has “done so much for us on the defensive end,” the coach said, highlighting what he thought prompted other coaches in the conference to make Gough a first team selection along with Peak.

Johnson said Gough has directed the defense, cleared the ball and “he’s picked up a whole lot of ground balls for us.”

Earlier in the season, when Johnson reported Gough’s statistics for all-conference consideration by the other coaches in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools, Gough had 66 ground balls. Johnson estimated that number has probably risen into the 80s by now.

“David’s a really good athlete, he’s got really good stick skills,” the coach said, also noting he understands transition play.

Gough has scored one goal and recorded four assists this year.

He made the All-TCIS second team for lacrosse as a sophomore.

Making the all-conference second team this season for Nansemond-Suffolk was junior attackman Noah Dowd.
