Scott Ehrich, of Suffolk, was one of more than 200 candidates for graduation who participated in West Kentucky Community & Technical College’s Spring Commencement Ceremonies May 9 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center.

More than 700 students qualified to participate by completing the classwork for an associate degree, diploma or certificate.

Ehrich was one of several students to receive an Associate in Applied Science degree.

In addition to the candidates for graduation, more than 60 students received nursing pins during a ceremony prior to the commencement ceremonies.

Paducah City Commissioner and keynote speaker Sandra Wilson gave the graduates a list of 10 top things to remember as they moved to the next chapter in their lives. Among the advice she gave the graduates included to trust their instincts, to not be afraid to explore new ideas and to strive to keep positive thoughts. “Never underestimate yourself or influence,” Wilson said. “Someone is looking to you as their mentor, role model, leader, adviser or friend. Lead them wisely.”
