Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

 

Shawn Moose, junior for Suffolk Christian Academy baseball: He put on an offensive showcase to help the Knights claim their third conference tournament championship in a row. He went 2-for-3, including a triple and a home run with two runs batted in during a surprising 11-1 mercy rule-shortened rout of Summit Christian Academy on Friday at Christopher Newport University.

Cydney Nichols, sophomore for King’s Fork High School soccer: She was sensational in back-to-back-to-back contests this past week, helping the Lady Bulldogs go 3-0. In Tuesday’s 9-0 road win over Heritage High School, she scored three goals. In Wednesday’s 3-2 road win over Tabb High School, she scored three more, and she scored both goals in Thursday’s 2-0 home win over Oscar Smith High School.

Alexis Rogers, senior for Nansemond River High School softball: She helped the Lady Warriors go 2-0 this week with stellar play at the plate, going 6-for-7 with one home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. In Friday’s 10-0 home win over Phoebus High School, she went 3-for-4 with the two-run homer, and in Tuesday’s 13-1 home win over Heritage High School, she went 3-for-3.
