The Nansemond River High School Lady Warriors cruised to an 80-point win, and the King’s Fork High School Bulldogs produced a couple of first-place finishes, over the weekend in the 2015 Ironclad Conference outdoor track and field championships at Lakeland High School.

Nansemond River’s girls’ team racked up 238 points, bolstered by nine first-place finishes, including three from senior Zakiya Rashid.

As usual, Rashid won the discus throw and the shot put, but she also came out on top in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.17 seconds.

Lady Warriors freshman Haley Neal was impressive, claiming conference championships in the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.

NR junior Dajae’ Goulet won the 100-meter dash, sophomore Syaira Richardson took first in the 200-meter dash, junior Brandeé Johnson was victorious in the 400-meter dash and senior Courtney James registered a win in the pole vault.

Though the Nansemond River boys’ team finished a distant second to Phoebus High School, it was still represented by three first-place finishers.

Two Warriors long distance runners took home titles as junior Kevin Tohak won the 1,600-meter run and junior Nicholas Gill won the 3,200-meter run.

Senior Xavier Williams was the winner in the 400-meter dash.

King’s Fork tasted victory thanks in part to its boys’ 4×100-meter relay team, which finished in 43.24 seconds, just ahead of Phoebus, which had a time of 43.85 seconds.

In open events, Bulldogs senior D’Angelo Dillard bested all competitors in the shot put.
