Klink said officers went to a residence in the 1000 block of Davis Boulevard on Wednesday to serve warrants on Copeland.

“During the incident, the subject became verbally and physically combative with officers and also kicked a nearby ambulance,” Klink wrote in an email.

The warrants were in relation to a July 17 incident at the Happy Shopper in the 600 block of East Washington Street, Klink wrote. Officers were dispatched there about 12:45 p.m. in reference to a person with a gun.

The adult female victim told police the father of her child brandished a firearm at her during a verbal altercation, Klink wrote. The subject, allegedly Copeland, left the area on foot and was not located during a search of the area.

Warrants were secured at the magistrate’s office for brandishing a firearm and domestic assault and battery, Klink wrote. An emergency protective order was also secured, she said.
