A Suffolk woman is charged with child abuse and other charges after she allegedly wrecked while driving drunk with two children in the car.

Officers were called to the crash on Kings Fork Road near Providence Road about 11:21 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle was in the ditch, and an adult female was near the ambulance that was already on scene, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

Two children, ages 6 and 7, had been in the vehicle. All received assessment and treatment on scene, Klink said.

Ashleigh Kristen Fiero, 41, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and two counts of child abuse or neglect. She also was issued a summons for reckless driving — failure to maintain control.
