Suffolk Police Lt. Timothy Duncan receives a plaque in honor of earning the Graduate Leadership Award at the Professional Executive Leadership School recently.

Suffolk Police Lt. Timothy Duncan has been awarded the PELS Graduate Leadership Award.

Duncan received the award during the Nov. 19 graduation ceremony for the 37th session of the Professional Executive Leadership School, according to a city press release, which described PELS as “an intensive liberal arts/humanities based leadership program conducted by the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation in cooperation with the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies.”

The Graduate Leadership Award recognizes a member of each PELS session who demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities, who exhibited a desire for self-improvement, who provided support and encouragement to other program participants and who best represented their organization and profession.

The recipient is chosen by his or her peers and receives a plaque at the conclusion of the session. The recipient’s name also is added to a display at the administrative headquarters of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation.
