Ulyesses McCoy Kee

Ulyesses McCoy Kee, 84, transitioned on Feb. 3, 2016, at his residence in Chesapeake. He was a native of Southampton County and the son of the late Stella R. Kee and James Kee. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

He worked for Northern Southern as a brakeman and conductor, where he retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, deacon and trustee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melanie T. Kee, of Chesapeake; one stepdaughter, Monica Taylor, of Chesapeake; a son, Bernard Kee, and stepson, Corey Taylor, both of Suffolk; one sister, Ruth Kee, of Suffolk; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother-in-law, Earlene Taylor; three sisters-in-law, Yvonne Thomas, Jean Gaines and Virginia Kee; one brother-in-law, Curtis Gaines; one daughter-in-law, Faye Kee; one step-daughter-in-law, Nicole Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
