More than 180 runners participated in the Burbage Grant Owners Association’s third annual Fun Run 5K and Kids’ 2K on April 23, raising nearly $1,700 for local charities.

The first-place winners for the three race divisions included Dylan Heyman, male 5K, who was running for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters; Mandy McCall, female 5K, supporting Houses of Hope; and Mason Ternes, Kids’ 2K, also supporting CHKD. Their charities each received 20 percent of the total proceeds, said organizer Steve Whear.

The remaining proceeds were split between CHKD and Hope Haven Children’s Home, the top two charities runners voted to support when they registered, Whear said.
