Bynum wins pageant title

On Sunday, April 3, Miss Earth United States held its regional pageant for the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.  This pageant featured women, teens and girls, ages 11-32, across four competitive divisions.

Suffolk’s Covonna Bynum won the 2016 Jr. Miss Virginia title. She is a student at John Yeates Middle School and enjoys volunteering in her community and playing travel softball. Her goal outside of pageantry is to make a difference in the lives of others.

Miss Earth United States is the official preliminary to Miss Earth, one of the top three international pageants. The winner of the Miss division age 18-26 will advance to Miss Earth, and the winners of the other divisions will receive an all-expense paid trip to support their sister queen at the international competition.
