Seven different players scored goals for the Lady Cavs, with three players scoring two goals each. This win can serve as a confidence enhancer for LHS, as post-season play starts next week.

With a 10-0 win against Heritage and a 7-0 win against Indian River last week, LHS used both those games to tighten up in areas they need to be successful in the playoffs.

“I think we have been playing really well together,” Lady Cavs’ Sydney Beale said. “Games like those have given us opportunities to get back to the basics and working together.”

Nansemond River’s Lady Warriors defeated Grassfield in a 3-2 overtime win. All of the Lady Warriors’ goals were scored by Ariana Samuel, who notched a hat trick for the second time in her last three games. That win put the Lady Warriors at 8-2 for the season.

“It was great to get a good team win like that,” Samuel said of her team’s victory. “It gives us momentum going into our conference games. Those games are important, because they determine our seed for next week.”

“This win was huge,” co-captain Mackenzie Roach said. “We played hard the whole 60 minutes. Then we came out strong and scored in the first couple minutes of overtime. We definitely came together as a team to win this one.”

The Lady Warriors have another Conference 10 game at Gloucester 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.

NSA defeated Christchurch for the second time in a row. After playing them last Friday and getting a 1-0 win on the road, NSA hosted Christchurch and won 5-1 Monday evening in a make-up game.
