A three-vehicle accident sent five people to the hospital on Monday.

The crash happened in the 7100 block of South Quay Road about 11:58 a.m., according to a city news release.

One adult was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and four adults were taken by ground ambulance to a hospital. None of the injuries is considered life-threatening, according to the release.

Both westbound lanes were closed following the accident. The roadway reopened at 12:46 p.m.
