Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s girls’ basketball team defeated Norfolk Academy 52-29 Tuesday night at home.

The win was NSA’s ninth on the year and prepares them for their matchup against Cape Henry Friday. Kelly Hogan led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

After the first quarter of play, NSA had a 20-11 lead. NSA held Norfolk to fewer than 10 points in each of the remaining three quarters. Defensively, the Lady Saints combined for 13 steals, with Lindsay Knierbein and Kaylah Brown having five steals apiece.

NSA had two double-figure scorers Tuesday night. Logan Harrell added 13 points for the Lady Saints, including hitting three of four three-pointers.

NSA will face off against Cape Henry at home Friday. Cape Henry is currently 5-0 in TCIS conference play and is among the top three teams in the conference. A key to NSA winning its matchup Friday will be for the Lady Saints to limit their own turnovers. Even in a big win, the team compiled 19 turnovers, which Cape Henry will look to capitalize on.

The game Friday is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
