The Cavs dropped a close game to undefeated Western Branch High School on the road Tuesday.

Lakeland High School’s boys’ basketball team almost stunned South Hampton Roads with the close game. The Cavs went into a hostile environment to take on an undefeated Bruins team. The first half was all under Lakeland’s control, as they jumped on the Bruins to take a 36-18 lead.

However, the Bruins clawed back and took the lead by outscoring the Cavs 26-2 in the third quarter. From there, both teams battled back and forth, with Lakeland trying to take back control of the game and their lead, but the Bruins ultimately pulled it out with a 59-56 win.

Keimari Artis led the Cavs with 13 points. The Cavs moved to 1-3, but the three losses have been very much in reach.

Lakeland will shake this off to host Oscar Smith High School at 7 p.m. Friday.
