King's Kids learn about NASA

Members of Kings' Kids of America Inc. learned up close recently about astronauts, jet planes that travel 1,500 miles an hour, and about life in space. Dr. Octavia Tripp, an educational specialist for NASA's Community Enrichment Program, conducted an aeronautics workshop recently in Faith Temple Church.

Brenda Nichols, assistant executive director of the organization, said the children had plenty of hands-on activities including making a wing glider and rotor motor.

This activity was presented in relation to the King's Kids purpose, which is to teach and train young people spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and financially - thus developing well-rounded individuals who can become positive assets to society.

Other activities and projects include picnics, sports, social events, teaching and training sessions, field trips, and community projects.

Bishop Obadiah Colander is founder, and Betty Knight is the executive director of the King's Kids organization.
