Benefit BBQ a success

Published Wednesday, July 31, 2002

About 200 people attended the live Music and Barbecue Benefit last Sunday for Stacey William at the Happy Horse Bar, and Stacey's mother, Donna Williams is calling it a success.

Stacey, who is a student at Lakeland High School, was critically injured in an automobile crash on Easter Sunday morning.

According to Donna, Stacey has to have numerous tests and surgeries, and one major surgery may have to be done at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

"Her doctors are uncertain at this time as to when she will be ready for this surgery. Also, she has to recover from previous surgeries because of injuries from the accident before doctors can determine her options. However, she does have Medicaid that is paying her medical bills at this time," she said.

The benefit was given on the pretense that Stacey will most likely have to go to Minnesota.

The money raised at the benefit will pay travel expenses and any medical needs that Medicaid doesn't cover.
