Wal-Mart helps Meals program

Suffolk News-Herald
The Suffolk Meals on Wheels (SMOW) Program received a $1,000 check from Wal-Mart as part of its Good Works Grant Program.
Sharon DeWitt, director of the Meals on Wheels in Suffolk, accepted the check from Sam Wiggs, store manager.
According to him, the business has been donating to charitable and non-profit organizations in this manner for over five years.
"Our goal is to help organizations who help other people and the meals program tries to help people as much as possible," said Wiggs.
DeWitt said she requested some help from the store during their "March for Meals" Campaign in April, and that she appreciates Wal-Mart for answering her request. She also said that the money will go toward the continuation of providing meals for homebound seniors in Suffolk, Windsor and surrounding communities.
"We hold a good relationship with staff and managers of Wal-Mart and we are currently serving 60 people 12 meals a day," said DeWitt.
