Alma Herman Winslow Jr.

Alma Herman Winslow Jr., 53, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Reid's Ferry, he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and had retired as a truck driver and farmer.

He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Carr and Alma Herman Winslow Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Mabry Winslow; four children, Alma Herndon Winslow III, and his wife, Jenny; Chad Winslow, Kasey Winslow, all of Suffolk; and Justin Winslow of Charlotte County; a sister Brenda Jo Cowan of Suffolk; and a brother, William C. "Billy" Winslow of Lynchburg.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 27 in Ivy Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. David Chauncey officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home in Smithfield.

The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, Va., or to the American Diabetes Association, 101 West Plume St., Norfolk, Va., 23510.
