Published Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Staff Report
A special grand jury this week indicted an inmate in the Greensville Correctional Center for the Dec. 6, 2001, murder of a Goodman Street resident.
Thomas Lee Johnson, 37, who is serving a 19-year sentence for burglary and a parole violation, was charged with the first-degree murder of Linwood Williams, a 63-year-old retired cement worker for the city of Norfolk. Williams reportedly died from a blow to the head.
Johnson was on probation at the time of Williams' death. He was arrested in late December and sent back to prison after assaulting a police officer.
