Girl accidentally runs over brother

ISLE OF WIGHT (AP) - A 2-year-old boy who was playing near the family car with his 11-year-old sister died Tuesday after she accidentally shifted the vehicle's manual transmission into neutral and it ran him over, police said.

The accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. in the family's driveway, Deputy Tony Edwards of the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office said. A medical helicopter was called, but the child died before making it to the helicopter, Edwards said.

The death is being treated as accidental.
