Motorists who regularly travel Pinner Street had better be prepared to let up on the gas.

Officials are considering several possible options to slow traffic in the mostly residential area. Suffolk Borough Councilman Bobby Ralph said Wednesday that he had met with police and representatives of the Department of Neighborhood Services to see what could be done about the situation.

Among options being considered are the erection of school zone signs and an increased police presence.

"I've received quite a few complaints from people who pickup and drop off kids," Ralph said, referring to day care center on Pinner. "I think it's important for people to know that we're doing something about it.

Ralph noted that speeders appear to be primarily people from out of town who use Pinner as a connector between East Washington and Portsmouth Boulevard.

He said whatever option is decided upon will likely be implemented in the next few days.
