Women's club wins at district meeting

Eight members represented the Woman's Club of Suffolk at the Southside Spring District meeting of Federated Women's Clubs in the Wakefield Conference Center on Saturday, March 15.
The club was awarded two first-place certificates for work done under the International Outreach for Children and Home Life departments; second place for Education - Learning Disabilities; and a certificate of appreciation from the District for Outstanding Performance in reporting projects.
Blue ribbon winners of clubs in the district competed in the Arts and Crafts exhibits.
Club president Melva Rae West won a first for scrapbook. Cornelia Spivey and Anne M. Rountree won for handwork entries. Other members attending were Judith Gatling, Suzanne Bartles, Anita Laine, Hilda Robinson, Viola Dollar, and Magnolia Hicks.
