Teen treated after mishap

A Whaleyville teen-ager was treated and released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after being hit by a car around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Ryan Rocha, 16, of the 700 block of Freeman Mill Road was riding his scooter in the 1600 block of that road when he was hit by the 1992 Oldsmobile attempting to pass him, said Lt. Debbie George, interim spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.
Rocha drove the scooter onto the right side of the road, allowing Christopher Miles, 42, of the 1000 block of Litton Lane, to pass, George said. The collision occurred when the scooter veered to the left in front of the car, with the impact knocking the teen-ager into the windshield, he said.
No charges were filed against Miles, George said.
