Cheer Fund campaign concludes

The Suffolk Cheer Fund is closing its drive for 2003. With today's contributions of $775, the fund remains short of it goal by $1,609.10.
Today's final donors are BB&T Branch Banking and Trust Co., Metropolitan Baptist Church and Lillian B. Whitfield.
Attorney Frank Rawls, chairman of the Suffolk Cheer Fund, and William Ashley, coordinator of the Toys For Tots Program, and their committees wish to thank all who made this drive a very big success. Even though the goal was not achieved, the needs of 1,687 children were met.
We employees who worked along with these committees - Andy Prutsok, editor; Stephen Cowles, managing editor; Cathy Leonard, business office manager; Barbara Allen, staff writer; and I, Evelyn Wall, along with the employees who accepted check on behalf of the Suffolk Cheer Fund from organizations, businesses and individuals - enjoyed and appreciated the role that we played to keep the community informed of the fund's progress and to additionally make this drive a meaningful one.
We also hope you will have a prosperous year and look forward to working with you during another Suffolk Cheer Fund Drive in December.
