Former candidate charged with assault

A former candidate for the office of Clerk of Suffolk Circuit Courts was arrested and charged Friday night with assaulting an immediate family member.
Lieutenant Debbie J. George, spokesperson for the Suffolk Police Department, said Clinton Leroy Jenkins, of the 100 block of Halifax Street, was charged with one count of domestic assault and one count of assault by threat.
