Forbes: Suffolk getting #036;750K

U.S. Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-Va., will be making a stop in Suffolk next week to relay news that the city is to receive $750,000 in federal funds this year through Congressional bills.

Christine Shott, Forbes' spokeswoman, said the funding is earmarked for four specific projects:

n$250,000, for feasibility studies related to the Workforce Development Center planned for the Suffolk campus of Paul D. Camp Community College;

n$200,000, for equipping additional city police cruisers with computers and cameras;

n$150,000, for the continuation of work on the multi-city bike trail that originates at the Seaboard Train Station and Railroad Museum;

n$150,000, for the Great Dismal Swamp and Wildlife Refuge's visitor interpretation center.

Forbes will be meeting with city officials at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Suffolk City Council chambers.
