Church gives out #036;8,000 in scholarships

Suffolk Presbyterian Church has awarded four $2,000 Willis-Volper scholarships to graduating seniors in Suffolk's two public high schools.

Scholarship winners include:

-- Shani Brumley, a graduate of Nansemond River High School and daughter of James and Jacalyn Brumley, will be attending Hampton University. She plans to major in biology, with the goal of becoming a medical doctor.

-- Katie Stewart, also a Nansemond River graduate, will be studying pharmacy at Old Dominion University. She is the daughter of Thomas and Susan Stewart.

-- Lakeland High School graduate Germaine Gauvin, daughter of Teresa Gauvin, will be studying pre-law at Old Dominion University.

-- David Reid, who also graduated from Lakeland, will be enrolling in the pre-med curriculum at Old Dominion University. He is the son of Denise June Reid.
