Thomas Sandifer Jr.

Thomas Sandifer Jr. of 212 St. James Ave., Suffolk, died June 25, 2004, in Obici Hospital. He was a native of Pennsylvania and son of the late Rev. Thomas Sandifer Sr. and Virginia Jones Sandifer.
He was retired as a Police Captain in the police department at the Norfolk Navel Shipyard, the Security Police Academy, Supervisory Development Phase I & II, Basic Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, and Boat Operators Course.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan St. where he was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Bible Study Club, and Male Ministry.
His survivors include his wife, Virgie W. Sandifer; two sons, Thomas A. Sandifer, III of Connecticut and Darrel Sandifer of Newport News; two sisters, Janice Warwick and Gladys Turner, both of Lynchburg; one grandchild, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Mahan St. by the Rev. Steven G. Blunt. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
