Explorer scouts
to discuss regatta
Explorer Scout leaders of the Old Dominion Area Council are scheduled to meet here tomorrow night to discuss plans for the Council's participation in a tri-council regatta to be held September 15 and 16 at Little Creek.
The meeting has been called for tomorrow night at 8 o'clock in the Chamber of Commerce building by Clarence Sutton, who will be in charge of the planning session.
All posts, ships and crews in the local council are invited to take part in the regatta, Sutton said, along with similar units of the Tidewater and Peninsular Councils.
Linwood Harris elected Suffolk football captain
Linwood Harris, 150-pound senior center, has been elected captain of Suffolk High School's 1951 football team.
Harris was chosen captain of the Raiders at a meeting just before yesterday's afternoon practice.
He replaces two previously named captains, James Bradshaw and Deno Diamond, who were expected to return to the swuad this year, but who did not.
Bradshaw joined the Navy soon after school closed in June and Diamond finished in summer school rather than return and have to pay tuition.
Harris came up from the junior varsity in 1949 and stepped into the number one center position on last year's Suffolk team.
He had been a blocking back for the jayvees, but was converted into a center last year by Coach Dick White.
