One killed in auto accident

Published Tuesday, August 30, 2005

One man is dead and a 21-year-old is hospitalized after separate car accidents over the weekend.

Bobby Eugene Tew, 54, of Adams Swamp Road, died in Obici Hospital Sunday, several hours after his 2004 Kia veered off the left side of Carolina Road, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. The car struck a ditch bank, then rolled over on the road.

Police believe Tew may have suffered from a medical condition.

Meanwhile, Carey Eliza-beth Guyer of Lakeview Court is in critical condition in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after an accident around 2:30 a.m. Monday, George said.

Guyer, traveling north in the 2000 block of White Marsh Road, ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole, she said. She was thrown from the car, which flipped twice before landing upside down.
