Adult hoop favorites win
The Dining Room, C of C 76ers, Beamon’s and Midcity Blazers were winners in Suffolk Adult Basketball League games Wednesday at Kennedy and at Booker T.
At Kennedy, the Dining Room romped over the Obici Suns, 70-55 and the 76ers whipped Vi-Tex, 80-52.
The Dining Room put four players in double figures n Merritt Van with 15, Arthur Kee with 14 and Major Ruffin and Martin Richardson with 12 apiece.
James Boone led Obici with 17 points and John Smith added 12.
Lydell Walker and Joe Goodman each netted 18 for the 76ers against Vi-Tex and James Gay was a close runner-up with 17.
Richard Patterson had 14 for Vi-Tex and Mark Cladwell trailed with 13.
Over at Booker T. Beamon’s defeated Bowers Hill Auto, 80-46, and the Blazers trounced Farm Fresh, 75-39.
Choirs perform “The Celebrations of Christmas”
The Chancel and Children’s Choirs of Oxford United Methodist Church will present their annual Christmas music in the church sanctuary on Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
The program entitled, “The Celebrations of Christmas,” will feature a variety of familiar carols and anthems.
Soloists include Jackie Fuss, Virginia Everett, Jacke Neild, and Jack Bloom.
The program will conclude with a candle lighting service.
The Chancel Choir is directed by Robert Shifferly, church organist.
The Children’s Choir is directed by Mrs. Nancy Webb.
Mrs. Betty Shifferly will assist on the piano and Joe Webb will serve as narrator.
