What is this?
Editorial cartoon in poor taste
Published Tuesday, January 25, 2005
Editor, the News-Herald:
I have met Mr. Prutsok only once, and that was the time that I dropped off my reply to a shoddy piece of "journalism" by the execrable Mr. Norman. At that time, I thought him to be nice, if wrong. Mr. Prutsok was affable and willing to hear my opposing view to Young Master Jason's drivel, and intelligent enough to realize the superiority of Macintosh computers over Windows machines.
However, after watching the Inauguration, I opened my Jan. 20th edition of the Suffolk News-Herald, and found that Mr. Prutsok chose to run a viciously denigrating editorial cartoon that insulted the intelligence of the president, and also managed to use the name of Jesus in a derogatory fashion. Mr. Prutsok has made no secret of his political inclinations, and he is certainly entitled to have them and to publish them; after all, freedom of the press belongs to those who own one.
But to run that particular piece of nastiness only demonstrates to me that Mr. Prutsok, like Young Master Jason, is a graceless individual. This is a day of American unity. Regardless of party, America selected Mr. Bush as president, and this was his day. To abuse his audience who might be enjoying the pomp and pageantry of the day, seeing the bands, enjoying the sight of our military, listening to the wonderful music, singing and speeches only diminishes Mr. Presto's stature.
Mr. Prutsok, I hope your hatred warms you, as it appears to be the only personal warmth you have. But, then again, a nasty soul is its own reward.
Chuck Fisher
