Elizabeth Rhodes Byrd, 87, a former resident of Holland, passed away on Jan. 25, 2005 in Obici Hospital after a long fight with Alzheimer's and finally pneumonia.

Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late James Eugene Rhodes and Mattie G. Lewis Rhodes and the widow of Stanley L. Byrd Sr.

She was also predeceased by a son, Lewis Wayne Byrd.

She retired as a dietitian with Holland High School and was a member of the Holland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Stanley L. Byrd Jr. of Suffolk and special friend, Earnestine D. Wade of Carrsville; grandchildren, Stanley Byrd

III of Holland and Christine Santsaver of Suffolk; and three great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday Jan. 28, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Linwood Peterson. Burial will be at Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7

to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of the granddaughter, Chris Santsaver, 104 Dunbar Drive, Suffolk.
