James R. White

James Redell White, 69, of 422 Woodruff St., Suffolk, died Jan. 22, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Whaleyville (Suffolk), he was the son of William Murphy Sessoms and the late Nettie White, and the husband of Margaret Ruby White.

He was retired from the Chesapeake Mason Company after 46 years of service. He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church where he served on the Usher Board.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ruby White; three daughters, Sanita White, Leondra White, and Wanda White, all of Suffolk; three stepdaughters, Sylvia Jones, Thelma Hinton, and Titina Collins, all of Suffolk; two sons, James White Jr. of Boston, Mass. and Michael White of Suffolk; two stepsons, Jerry Hinton and Terry Hinton, both of Suffolk; one sister, Clarine Wiggins of Suffolk; one brother, Charlie Sessoms of Newport News; 13 grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; special cousins, Lois Lee Townsend and Margie Iverson; close friends, Melvin Hinton, Theodore Baskerville and Romie Lee Barnes; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 29 in New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministry by Bishop William P. Wiggins Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be at 422 Woodruff Street. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
