Barlow to be sworn in on council next week
Published Saturday, January 29, 2005

Joseph H. Barlow will be sworn in as the newest member of the Suffolk City Council next week.
Barlow, a semi-retired farmer and longtime community leader, will take his oath of office during a special ceremony at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the council chambers.
The ceremony will be followed by the council's regular 4 p.m. work session and 7 p.m. meeting.
On Monday, after more than an hour deliberating behind closed doors, the city council unanimously tapped Barlow to complete the unexpired term of former Councilman E. Dana Dickens III.
Dickens resigned earlier this month to become the chief executive officer of the Hampton Roads Partnership, an economic development alliance committed to facilitating new growth opportunities for the region.
