Thomas E. Childs

Thomas Edward Childs, son of the late Thomas and Mattie Smith Childs, departed into eternal rest on Friday, March 25, 2005 at his residence.

He was born on June 27, 1942 in Roduco, N.C.

He was predeceased by his brother Waldell Childs.

Thomas attended the public schools in Gates County, N.C.

He was a member of Balm of Gilead Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and president of the usher

board. Thomas was a retired truck driver for Perry Lumber Company.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Edward Lee Green; one sister, Willie Mae Childs of New York; two nieces, Mattie Ann Rodgers and Rose Marie Childs, both of Suffolk; two great nieces, one great nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 12 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2005 at Balm of Gilead Baptist Church, 3731 White Marsh Road with Pastor Charles Leavell officiating. The interment will be in Carver Memorial Park.

Professional services are entrusted to T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.
