Memorial Day observances

Two events are being held Monday to commemorate Memorial Day.

-11 a.m. - The American Legion will hold its annual ceremony at Cedar Hill Cemetery on North Main Street. State Del. S. Chris Jones will speak.

-1 p.m. - The Veterans of Foreign Wars has planned a ceremony at the new Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milner's Road.

The city offices will be closed on Monday. Consequently, trash pickup will be pushed back a day for the next week, said Dennis Craff, spokesman for the city.
