Catherine Virginia Bellamy

Catherine Virginia Bellamy, 79, of the 3200 block of Longstreet Lane, died Oct. 25, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Gates, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Bromzy and Virginia Dare Lowther and the widow of James R. Bellamy.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Senior Choir, Missionary Board, and Hospitality Committee.

She is survived by seven daughters, Brenda Washington of Macon, Geo., Lena Pelt and Catherine Kendrick of Milledgeville, Geo., Gladys Bellamy of Chesapeake, Carolyn Garland, Tammy Manley and Lisa Copeland, all of Suffolk; three sons, James E. Bellamy (Carolyn) of Gatesville, N.C., William Bellamy (Nelda), and Timothy Bellamy (Mary), both of Franklin; a sister, Beloved Louise Wilson of Suffolk; two brothers, Rolenza Lowther (Alverta) and Albert R. Lowther (Gladys), both of Suffolk; 15 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nine sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 29, 2005 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Karl Marshall and the Rev. George Smith. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Crocker Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
