Committees named for Peanut Bowl by Rotary Club

The Suffolk Rotary Club announced today that officers and committees have been selected for the 13th annual Rotary-sponsored Peanut Bowl Football Game, scheduled for Nov. 21 between Suffolk and Great Bridge High Schools at Peanut Park.

Dr. James M. Habel has been named general chairman of the Peanut Bowl committee, with ten other main committee chairmen appointed to take charge of arrangements for the yearly football game and parade.

Committee chairmen are:

Ben Parker, advertising; John Byrne, tickets; Emmette Rawls and Angus Hines, concessions; James C. Causey and Howard Mast, parade; Arthur E. Jones, programs; Quimby Hines, program sales; James McLemore, business manager and Frank E. Butler, assistant business manager.

Mrs. Holland speaks on Justice Marshall

Mrs. William N. Holland spoke on Chief Justice John Marshall of Virginia at a luncheon meeting of the Suffolk Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century Monday at the Elliott Hotel.

Hostesses were Mrs. Bruce Y. Rawls and Mrs. Telza Smith Miller of Suffolk.

Mrs. William V. Tynes, chapter president discussed the program for the year and Mrs. Lewis Littlepage, state president, reported on her visit to the National Headquarters Home in Washington.

Others attending the luncheon were Mrs. Gerould M. Womble of Portsmouth; Mrs. David Y. Malbon of London Bridge; Miss Mary Cowling of Norfolk; Mrs. Burwell Riddick of Washington; Mrs. J. A. Holland and Mrs. W. N. Holland of Holland and Mrs. T. A. Jordan, Mrs. Ethel B. Saunders, Mrs. James E. Knolle and Mrs. G. Lloyd Bell of Suffolk.

Chest campaign may be extended

Officials of the Suffolk Community Chest campaign today reported an addition of $1,240 to the drive since Monday afternoon.

The latest contributions raise the total to date to $16,626.82 n with only three days left before the official Friday deadline, still short of the halfway mark.

C. M. Flintoff, general chairman of the 1958 drive, said earlier that the deadline would possibly be extended if the goal is not reached, but said that he anticipates a pick-up in contributions towards the end of the week and added that he thought by Thursday drive officials would be able to determine how much of an extension, if any, would be needed.

JVSC given Christmas seals

Mrs. James Crocker and Mrs. T. L. Elmore distributed Christmas Seals to members of the Junior Volunteer Service Corps at a meeting Monday night in the Municipal Building.

Mrs. Jacquelin Stanley presided over the business meeting and Mrs. Charles Graves reported on the sale of tulip bulbs held recently.

Mrs. Larry Ruden announced that members were assisting in the City Community Chest Drive.

Others present were Mrs. Stewart Smither, Mrs. G. Richardson Joyner, Jr., Mrs. Henry B. Simpson, Mrs. Robert Wrenn, Mrs. Marshall Smoot, Mrs. Barney Annas, Mrs. John R.
