Wilbur Lee Brown
Published Friday, January 20, 2006
Wilbur Lee Brown, 61, entered into eternal rest on January 17, 2006 at Obici Hospital. Born April 8, 1944, a native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Shirley M. Brown and Hallie Mae Mizell Brown. Two sisters, Annie Taylor and Nancy Norvell; and one grandson, Josef Collins, predeceased him.
He was employed with the City of Suffolk Public Schools as a custodian and previously at Kraft Foods. He was a die-hard New York Giants, Knicks and Mets fan. He had a loving and comical spirit and a beautiful smile to go along with it. He gave everyone he knew a nickname.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Linda Brown; his children, Velverlee Yvette (John) Parrish, Jeffery (Bridget) Brown, Kent (Wanda) Rabb, Antonio Rabb, Deatrice Rabb, and Shannon Powell; four brothers, McOlzer (Ethel) Brown, Artis Brown, Richard (Glenda) Brown, and Redell (Velma) Brown; mother-in-law, Lessie Mae Ruffin; one uncle, Chatt Mizell; four sisters-in-law, Mary Worrell, Joyce Ruffin, Cynthia Green, and Judy (William) Lamb; five brothers-in-law, Robert Lee Taylor, Vernon Norvell, Albert Ruffin, Joseph (Pauline) Ruffin, and Vann (Carolyn) Ruffin; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will preside. Burial will follow at the Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery and a Repast afterwards at the church. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Messages of Sympathy may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
